Short CV / biography / description of scientific focus and achievements:

John Posada is a Chemical Engineer and Assistant Professor at Delft University of Technology (Department of Biotechnology – Section Biotechnology and Society). He obtained his PhD degree (cum laude) in (bio-)chemical process design from the National University of Colombia in 2011. He worked at Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development (Utrecht University) first as Post-doctoral Researcher (for three years) and then as Senior Researcher (for one additional year) in the area of “Sustainability Assessment of Biorefineries”. In 2015, he joint TU Delft as Assistant Professor working on the area of “Integral Sustainability in Biobased Economy”; his research interests cover, amongst others, techno-economic, environmental, social and integrated sustainability assessment in biobased economy, mostly for biorefineries. He is currently coordinating the ‘Horizontal International Project’ (2.2M€) for an overall integral sustainability assessment of biojet fuels and bioplastics production. He has participated in over 10 research projects, supervised (incl. ongoing): 15 MSc students, 3 Junior researchers (PhD students level); 2 Professional doctorate trainees (PDEngs); 2 PhD students and 1 Post-doc; and has published 17 scientific papers, 4 book chapters, 1 book, 6 public research reports, and 18 papers/abstracts in scientific conferences.
