Philipp attends IWA water reclamation and reuse conference, Berlin

SuPER-W fellow, Philipp Kehrein attended the IWA conference on water reuse and reclamation in Berlin. Here is what he had to say about it:

" It was a week with a steep learning curve. Water utilities and service providers do incredible work to deliver a product of highest quality to all possible customers, 24/7 at affordable costs. Simultaneously, a gigantic waste stream is treated and disposed safely. This is taken often for granted by consumers but deserves more appreciation and understanding as water resources are under increasing pressure. It is good to see that the water sector is aware and holds already smart engineering and management solutions in the pipeline to ensure safe water use and availability tomorrow, and explores more sustainable treatment options. However, let’s not forget that today 780 million people do not have access to a safe water source while 2.4 billion people do not have access to improved sanitation."
